Plant Sale
Originally proposed by member Molly O'Reilly, an annual sale of native plants has been a successful fundraiser for KNPS since 2009. KNPS purchased native plant species from Plants of the Wild in Tekoa, WA. The plants were nurtured in the Panhandle Special Needs greenhouse until ready for sale in the spring. Early sales were held at the PSNI greenhouse.
While that collaboration worked well for the first few years, the sale eventually moved to the KNPS Arboretum in Lakeview Park featuring plants from Cedar Mountain Perennials, a native plant nursery in Athol, Idaho. Established in 2010, about 90% of the stock offered at CMP is grown from their own harvested seed and stem cuttings. The nursery is a member of KNPS and owners Bob and Jill Wilson are generous supporters of the plant sale. For the past few years the sale has been held on the first Saturday in June.
